The NVIDIA SHIELD is easily one of, if not the best option for those looking to take advantage of the Android TV platform. This is a device which is able to deliver the stock Android features, but also a number of SHIELD-specific features. One of the biggest of which is its emphasis on gaming and both in terms of its hardware specifications and software optimizations. In fact, the NVIDIA SHIELD is quickly becoming a bridging gap between Android TV and a true gaming console. A gap which has now closed just a little more with the confirmation that Resident Evil 5 is on its way to the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV.
While this is a game which is slated to come to the wider Android TV market, it is one which is launching on the SHIELD first as an exclusive title and according to the details, will be available to download from tomorrow via the Google Play Store. Resident Evil 5 will cost $14.99, although its initial launch period will see the price slashed by a third and as a result, from tomorrow it will be available to buy and download for only $9.99. It is also worth pointing out that while this is launching on the NVIDIA SHIELD first, the price does include the DLC.
This is likely to be one of the games which really showcases not just the Android TV platform but also the NVIDIA SHIELD’s hardware as Resident Evil 5 will runs in HD at 30fps and as such, will adopt a look and feel which is much closer to the level of gameplay you can expect from the likes of a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360 and certainly more than what most are likely used to on an Android device. Interestingly, there is also talk that while the game is arriving as a single-player game, there is the possibility that it will offer multiplayer support through a future update. Although, details on when that might happen, if it does, have not been currently provided. Either way though, for those looking to get in on the Resident Evil 5 action, tomorrow (Thursday, May 19) is the day, $9.99 is the price and the NVIDIA SHIELD is the place.
