The new OnePlus 3 was one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year – and if you had been waiting specifically for the Soft Gold color, it is now available in Canada via the OnePlus website for CA$519.00. It initially launched in everybody’s favorite color – Graphite – or gray to most people. The new color actually uses a white face plate with light gold edges and the Soft Gold backing. In addition to the smartphone, you can also order five different protective cases for an additional $33.95. These include Bamboo, Karbon, Rosewood, Black Apricot, and Sandstone. The shipping is free and OnePlus offer a 15-day no hassle return. Shipping is usually 3-7 business days, although you can pay for Priority Shipping for a 1-3 day delivery time.
OnePlus has always produced a solid device that has the look and feel of a flagship phone – but some of the parts or pieces were always left out. The NFC, the QHD display, or the processor are all examples of items that OnePlus had left out or were considered behind, along the way. The OnePlus 3 is their best design to date and to top it off, OnePlus redesigned the outside to be a full-metal backing. The OnePlus 3 has a business look with no flash or real ‘wow’ factor. It is a well-built and robust design that feels the part of a flagship smartphone.
The OnePlus 3 sports a new 5.5-inch FHD Optic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and roughly 401 pixels-per-inch (PPI.) OnePlus uses the newest Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor with dual-cores clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2.15 GHz, that is coupled to a very capable Adreno 530 GPU which will handle any graphics you can throw at it. OnePlus packed in a full 6GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of the faster UFS 2.0 internal storage, although there are no means to expand. The new OnePlus 3 is using a new 16-megapixel sensor, with fast PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), a LED Flash, a large f/2.0 aperture, and both OIS and EIS (Electronic Stabilization) for outstanding stability. The FFC camera jumped to 8-megapixels with a f/2.0 aperture for better selfies and video chatting. The OnePlus 3 uses a 3,000 mAh battery and also makes use of the company’s own own rapid charging they call ‘Dash Charge’, Which is said to offer up to 60-percent charge in only 30 minutes. It runs mostly stock Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) out-of-the-box with OnePlus’ OS called OxygenOS on top. It measures 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm, weighs in at 158 grams.
