Snapseed’s recent lost image bug that surfaced in last week’s version 2.9 update has been fixed, as Google has pushed out a new update to the application today that patches the issue. Not everyone was experiencing the problem with the app deleting a user’s original image files, but enough users were having this problem for Google to take notice and issue a quick fix. As a recap, last week’s 2.9 update to Snapseed brought along a handful of changes including a new Face tool which was incorporated to automatically scan a photo for a person’s face and allow the user to enhance it with highlighting features.
In addition to the new Face tool, Snapseed also introduced a new Perspective tool and a new White Balance tool. While these were great additions for many, those that were affected by the bug were likely focusing solely on the issue at hand, which caused Snapseed to either overwrite or completely delete the original image file of a picture that had been shared with the app. The app’s team on G+ notes that the update pushes users forward to version 2.9.1, and naturally recommends that anyone who hasn’t already downloaded the update to do so once it appears, if it hasn’t already.
Usually with app updates there is more to look forward to then just a single bug fix, but as there was already a new app update that was sent out last week, another new one with additional new features is not something that would be likely. Having said that, users shouldn’t expect the 2.9.1 update to do anything but patch the bug. Both this update and the 2.9 update follow an update to Snapseed from back in the beginning of August which introduced the ability to resize photos as well as insert text, both of which add a nice level of customization to the already sizable list of functions that you can do with Snapseed if you’re looking to jazz up your photos.
