If you’re a T-Mobile customer sporting an LG G5 device, you will be pleased to know that a new software update is now rolling out for your device that will bump your Android software version from Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) to Android 7.0 (Nougat). Today, T-Mobile US officially announced that they have started rolling out Android 7.0 update for the owners of LG G5 smartphone. T-Mobile isn’t the first US carrier to start pushing out Android 7.0 update for the LG G5 in the US as Sprint has already started rolling out Android 7.0 for the LG G5 customers just a week ago.

The new update clocked in at 1.27 GB in size and includes Android 7.0 software as well as November security patches. If you’re sporting an LG G5 device on T-Mobile, you should receive an update notification over the coming weeks or so; as always the case with the staged software rollouts, the update might take some time to reach your device so don’t worry if you’re not seeing any update notification yet on your device. You can also check for an update on your device manually by navigating to the device’s settings, then about phone and tapping system updates to see if any update is available. Since the update is pretty large in size, it’s advisable that you connect to a WiFi network and also make sure that you have at least 50% battery before you download this update; do note that if you do not download the update yourself once you receive update notification, it will start downloading automatically between 11:00 P.M and 4:00 AM even if you’re on mobile network so be sure to turn off your data connection at night if you don’t want to install it over mobile network, otherwise you’ll end up incurring additional data charges.

The update includes all the sweet treats from Android 7.0 update like multi-window mode which lets you use two apps at the same time; improved Doze mode which now even works when  your device is in your hands; Quick Reply and a redesigned notification panel; Vulkan API (only on supported devices) to improve graphic performance while still consuming less power and many under-the-hood optimizations to improve overall consistency and stability. LG had first started rolling out Android 7.0 in South Korea for the LG G5 and now that the update has started hitting the LG G5 devices in the US as well, it shouldn’t take long for other regions like Europe, UK, and Asia will also start seeing Android 7.0 update rolling out to them.
