OnePlus is expected to announce their latest flagship smartphone later today, the OnePlus 3T. This isn’t expected to be a big change over the OnePlus 3 which they announced earlier this year, hence the name, but still a pretty good upgrade. The rumor mill had been telling us that the biggest upgrade that the OnePlus 3T would see over the standard OnePlus 3 was the Snapdragon 821 processor. Something that OnePlus and Qualcomm had both basically confirmed on Twitter in the past week.
The company published the full specs page on their website earlier, and has since pulled it down. But not before 9to5Google was able to grab a screenshot showing us all of the specs. And there’s no real surprises here. We’re looking at the Snapdragon 821 powering the show, 6GB of RAM is still under the hood along with 64GB of storage. There is now an option for 128GB of storage as well as a new color option “Gunmetal”. It will only be available in one other color and that is the Soft Gold color. The other big change is the battery, OnePlus has a 3400mAh battery in there, that’s a sizable upgrade from the 3000mAh battery in the regular OnePlus 3. Considering it’s sporting the same 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, battery life should be much improved on the OnePlus 3T.
No real surprises found with the OnePlus 3T, other than perhaps the size of the battery. It’s sporting the exact same design as the OnePlus 3, which is also not a huge surprise. A change in design will likely come next year with the OnePlus 4, which is already a hot topic on the rumor mill. The price was not shown on their website before the page was taken down, but the rumor mill is pointing towards a $479 price tag for the OnePlus 3T, that’s $80 more than the OnePlus 3. The company is set to make the device official at 1PM ET, so we should know all of the specifics of the device in the next couple of hours. There’s also no word on whether it’ll be available today or in a few weeks.
