Ghostek Gives Us the First Look at a Possible Galaxy S8

The Galaxy S8 isn’t due to be announced until April, or at the earliest, next month in Barcelona. But that won’t stop case manufacturers from publishing pictures of their cases for the upcoming device, just as we’ve seen with other smartphones like the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 last year. Now the company has released a picture of their Atomic 3 Series case which will be available for the Galaxy S8 when it launches. Now it’s important to note that this may not be what the Galaxy S8 actually looks like when it gets announced in April, but it does give us a general idea of what it may look like. Samsung, and other manufacturers, will hand over dimensions of their upcoming device to case manufacturers like Ghostek ahead of time, so that they can begin to prepare their case offerings. So Ghostek has a good understanding of what the Galaxy S8 may look like, but it’s still far from the final device.

Now looking at the pictures that Ghostek has available of this case, there are a few things that standout. For one, there’s no home button, something we’ve seen rumored quite a bit recently. Additionally the volume rocker and power button appear to be on the left side of the device, as opposed to being on the left side like it normally is. But perhaps the most surprising is the fact that there is no headphone jack and no charging port. There isn’t even a visible flap that could be covering the charging port (which could be necessarily if this were a waterproof case). Which leads us to believe that Samsung is going to go all in with wireless charging. The removal of the headphone jack was widely rumored, and expected, especially with many other manufacturers doing the same thing.

It’s important to note that this needs to all be taken with a grain of salt. Since Samsung isn’t putting out these cases, this needs to be treated as a rumor or a leak. So while it does look very similar to the rumors we’ve seen about the Galaxy S8 already, we’ll still take this with a grain of salt for now. Hopefully we’ll learn more soon about the Galaxy S8.
