The Goals feature of the Google Calendar Android app now supports fitness activities and Google Fit integration, the company announced on Thursday. The latest addition to Google’s popular app allows users to set goals like “run twice a week,” “hit the gym tomorrow,” and “cycle three times next month.” This functionality also makes full use of the Find A Time feature introduced in Google Calendar last spring. Google Calendar’s fitness-oriented goals are still exclusive to the mobile app but are expected to debut in the web version of the company’s organizational tool at some point this year.

Google Calendar users were already able to set fitness goals, but up until now, the app didn’t differentiate between them and other generic targets. This update adds the Excercise Goal category to the app and extends its support to the Google Fit app, meaning that people who use the company’s mobile fitness solution won’t have to manually mark their goals as being done anymore. Instead, Google Calendar will automatically pull data from Google Fit and label fitness goals as being completed. The latest Google Calendar update also enriches fitness goals with a new performance tracker. Furthermore, the Find A Time feature extends to this new goal category and is able to automatically tailor your targets depending on your real-world performance. This functionality is powered by Google’s AI technology and is entirely optional. You can see new Google Calendar Excercise Goals in action in the gallery below.

The Mountain View-based tech giant initially debuted Google Calendar Goals last April. Since then, the company has been hard at work ennobling this feature and attracting more users to its organizational tool. This new, fitness-oriented addition to Google Calendar was delivered as a server-side update. The latest app update, version 5.6.10, was pushed out to flagship Android devices in mid-December. Among other things, the update added alternative calendars for devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and a Month View widget. As the company is delivering Google Calendar updates on a regular basis, at least one more patch is expected to hit the Google Play Store by spring. In the meantime, you can experiment with the new Exercise Goals feature by opening the app and tapping on the plus symbol located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
