The upcoming Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) will be launched by a number of U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular, according to a relatively reliable tipster Evan Blass. The phone is expected to be released fairly soon and has already been leaked several times over the past few weeks. A device bearing a model number SM-J727 was recently cleared by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). According to previous reports, this particular Android smartphone will eventually be launched as the Galaxy J7 (2017) by Samsung, although that allegation has yet to be confirmed. The Galaxy J7 (2017) was also recently imported into India for testing purposes, as was suggested by a listing on the country’s import and export tracking website Zauba.
While the FCC listing didn’t really reveal a whole lot about the Galaxy J7 (2017), earlier leaks have indicated that the upcoming Samsung-made handset will be a mid-range device mostly aimed at the prepaid market. According to previous rumors, the Galaxy J7 (2017) will feature a 5.5-inch display panel boasting a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC which comes with an embedded 64-bit octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2GHz. The phone is also said to ship with 2GB of RAM, along with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The Galaxy J7 (2017) will reportedly carry a 3,000mAh battery and run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
While Samsung is expected to launch its upcoming mid-ranger globally, there’s currently no word on when it will be released or how much it will cost. The company is believed to have set an ambitious sales target of around 100 million units for its Galaxy J-series, so it will be interesting to see how much this particular phone will contribute to the success of the company’s 2017 Galaxy J lineup. Either way, it’s important to note that Blass doesn’t say anything about T-Mobile or Sprint picking up the Galaxy J7 (2017), although it will be interesting to see if either of the carriers do so at some stage in the foreseeable future.
