South Korean tech giant LG Electronics looks all set to launch its 2017 K-series smartphones in India, according to reports in the country’s mainstream national media. The company reportedly sent out press invites earlier today for an event that will be held on February 22 in New Delhi, and will be attended by the Union minister for information & technology, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad. While LG is yet to categorically say so, some sections of the Indian media seem to believe that all four of LG’s K-series (2017) devices will be manufactured in the country as part of the federal government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, which incentivizes global companies to set up manufacturing units in the country with tax breaks, subsidized land and other offers.

While LG is expected to announce its flagship smartphone, the LG G6, at the MWC trade show in Barcelona later this month, the company had originally unveiled its 2017 K-series lineup at CES 2017 last month. The series comprises of four devices this year, starting with the entry-level LG K3 (2017) at the lower end of the spectrum, right up to the LG K10, which comes with the most powerful hardware of all the devices in this lineup. Alongside those two handsets, the lineup also includes the LG K4 (2017) and the LG K8 (2017), so the company will have a diverse range of devices this year for prepaid users around the world.

Taking a quick look at the key tech specs of these devices, the LG K10 (2017) comes with a 5.3-inch 720p screen, a MediaTek MT6750 processor, 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, and carries a 2,800mAh battery. The LG K8 (2017), comes with a 5-inch 720p display, and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core chip. It comes with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera and a 2,500mAh battery. Both these devices will also come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The LG K4 (2017) and LG K3 (2017) will both have the Snapdragon 210 SoC under the hood, alongside 1GB of RAM and just 8GB of internal storage. However, while the former will have a 5-inch screen, the later will ship with just a 4.5-inch display. Both devices will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
