A new promotional video for the LG G6 was just published by the South Korean phone maker on YouTube. All 74 seconds of the promo are focused on the design philosophy behind the LG G6 as the video attempts to explain what led the company to design a smartphone with thin bezels and a relatively unusual aspect ratio of 18:9, i.e. 2:1. As the narrator puts it, human hands “haven’t changed” with time, and neither has “the rule of a smartphone,” the ultimate ambition of every original equipment manufacturer to deliver a device that has a large screen but can still fit in one’s hand in a comfortable manner. This core principle is what LG’s design team had in mind when they were working on the LG G6, the video reveals.

The narrator goes on to explain how the unifying lines of the LG G6 benefit the phone as a whole, while its metal frame makes it feel firm and durable when held. The video highlights the fact that LG’s upcoming Android flagship doesn’t feature an unappealing camera bump, while the glass covering the rear side of the device ensures it sits comfortably in anyone’s hand. Finally, the promo also showcases all three colors in which the LG G6 will be available and highlights the FullVision display of the device, labeling its 18:9 aspect ratio as “perfect.” That last claim is particularly significant in light of the fact that a report from earlier today suggested how LG is looking to emulate the style of the LG G6 with its upcoming mid-range smartphones. Those recent developments indicate that the Seoul-based phone maker finally decided on a unified design philosophy that it’s going to pursue in the future with the majority of its products.

The LG G6 features a 5.7-inch QHD display panel and is powered by the Snapdragon 821 system-on-chip and 4GB of RAM. LG will ship two variants of the device boasting 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, respectively. However, the latter won’t be available in the United States. On the bright side, the U.S. model will be the only one in the world that will support wireless charging, the company confirmed. More details on the availability and pricing of the LG G6 are bound to follow soon as the handset is scheduled to be released this spring.
