Qihoo just launched the 360 N5 in China, as expected. The device comes with a price tag of 1,399 yuan ($203) for the 32GB model and 1,599 yuan ($232) for the 64GB version. The main selling point of the device is the fact that it comes with 6GB of RAM, making it the currently most affordable smartphone to offer that much RAM. While smartphones with 6GB of RAM have been hitting the market for a few months now, they generally cost significantly more than this particular device. For example, the LeEco Le Pro3 was launched in the United States in late 2016 at $399, while the Coolpad Cool S1 costs 2,499 yuan ($363) in China. As for the 360 N5, it is already available for pre-order in Black and Gold color options from 360 Mall and JD.com. Sales will officially start on Monday, February 27.
In terms of RAM, the 360 N5 is an upgrade on the 360 N4 that was launched last year with 4GB of RAM. Qihoo’s latest device is also a step above its predecessor in the context of many other hardware specs. The smartphone comes with a metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on top. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p display panel and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 system-on-chip which comes with the Adreno 510 GPU and a 64-bit, octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz. The latest Qihoo-made smartphone also has a 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. On the software front, the device is running 360 OS 2.0, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the 360 N5 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0, a dual LED flash and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). The device also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera that comes with FotoNation 4.0 technology. The handset weighs 156 grams, and measures 152mm in length, 76mm in width, and 8.25mm in thickness. In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, and GLONASS. The device also comes with a 3.5mm audio port as well as a standard MicroUSB port instead of a USB Type-C port that’s expected to become more popular even among mid-range devices going forward.
