Huawei has launched a new device as part of its P10 lineup in Malaysia. Alongside the flagship P10 and the P10 Plus, the Chinese tech giant introduced the relatively more affordable P10 Lite in the South East Asian country earlier today. While rumors about the official unveiling have been swirling around throughout the day, the company has finally put a stop to all of that by making its most affordable P10 device official a little while earlier. While the two premium devices were unveiled at the MWC trade show in Barcelona a few weeks back, this is the very first time the company has officially shown off the P10 Lite in public. All three models will be up for pre-order in the country from March 23rd and will go on sale from March 31. The devices will only be available in Prestige Gold and Graphite Black for now, although some other color options are expected to be added by May or June.
Taking a quick look at the pricing of the entire lineup, while the P10 Plus has an asking price of 3,099 Ringgit in Malaysia for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version, the standard P10 has been priced at 2,499 Ringgit for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The P10 Lite, meanwhile, is the most affordable device of the lot, with a price-tag of just 1,299 Ringgit for the 4GB RAM + 32GB storage model. While the latter comes with a cheaper price-tag than its more celebrated siblings, it does reflect on its spec sheet, which is significantly more mid-range compared to the two premium devices. The Huawei P10 Lite features a 5.2-inch 1080p display and is powered by the Kirin 655 SoC, which is certainly a downgrade from the Kirin 960 that can be found under the hood of the two other devices in the P10 lineup.
Imaging options on the Huawei P10 Lite include a single 12-megapixel rear-facing camera instead of the dual-camera modules that can be found on the P10 and P10 Plus. The front-facing selfie-cam is an 8-megapixel unit, although, it’s not immediately clear if it’s the same Leica sensor that can be found on the two flagship devices. As for the rest of the specs, the P10 Lite carries a 3,000mAh battery instead of the 3,750mAh unit on the P10 Plus and the 3,250mAh unit on the standard-issue P10, but it does run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, much like its pricier siblings.
