An LG device with model number LGE LG-K530 has been spotted on popular benchmarking website, Geekbench. While the listing doesn’t reveal the official name of the device, the model number seems to indicate that it is the LG Stylo 2 Plus, which happens to be a lower mid-range Android smartphone that was launched last year by the South Korean company in various countries around the world including, but not limited to, India, Taiwan and the U.S. While the handset is sold unlocked and SIM-free in India, it is sold by T-Mobile and MetroPCS in the U.S. and, is aimed at the pre-paid market for the most part. Having been launched last July, the LG Stylo 2 Plus has been on the market for some time, although the interesting thing to note here is that according to the listing, the phone seems to be running Android 7.0 Nougat.

The device was originally launched last year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, but LG had promised the Nougat update in the future. While some recent reports had suggested that T-Mobile had started rolling out the Android Nougat update for the Stylo 2 Plus last month, it unfortunately turned out to be a false alarm. That being the case, the handset continues to remain on Marshmallow for the time being, but that may not be the case for long if the latest developments are anything to go by. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for LG and its carrier partners to roll out Android Nougat to the device, given that discussions about the next version of Android have already started doing the rounds.

The LG Stylo 2 Plus features a 5.7-inch display panel and is powered by the Snapdragon 430 SoC. Many of the specifications of the phone are market-specific, including the display resolution, which varies between 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) and 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) depending on the model. The phone comes with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM alongside either 16GB or 32GB of storage, depending on the market. However, the variant listed on Geekbench seems to be an unlocked K530-series device that comes with just the 2GB of RAM. As usual, the Geekbench listing doesn’t reveal a whole lot, so it will be interesting to see which version(s) of the device will be first to receive the much-awaited update.
