A new Nubia smartphone bearing the model number NX569J has been certified by China’s electronics certifications agency, TENAA. Reports in sections of the online tech media seem to suggest that it will be eventually launched as the Nubia Z17 Mini. Although Nubia is yet to say anything specific about any of its upcoming handsets, the company, earlier today, released a teaser for an April 6 event that’s expected to be the platform for the company to unveil its latest Z-series phablet, the Nubia Z17. It will be interesting to see if the company will also unveil the Nubia Z17 Mini at the same event, as the teaser seems to highlight a dual-camera module which is believed to be absent on the Z17, but present on the Z17 Mini, if the images carried by TENAA are anything to go by.
While listings on the TENAA website typically reveal quite a bit about a phone’s key hardware specifications, there’s apparently no mention of the processing chipset this time round, although the CPU cores are said to be clocked at a frequency of 1.8 GHz. Earlier rumors, however, have claimed that the Nubia Z17 Mini will be powered either by the Snapdragon 625 or the Snapdragon 653, both of which are powerful mid-range SoCs from the San Diego, California-based chipmaker, Qualcomm. As for the rest of the tech specs, the TENAA listing reveals that the device will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display, and will come with 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of built-in storage. The listing also seems to suggest that the upcoming smartphone will carry a 2,930 mAh battery and have Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) pre-installed.
As mentioned already, the Nubia Z17 Mini is expected to be a camera-oriented smartphone with a dual rear-camera setup. Reports seem to suggest that at least one of the rear-facing cameras on the device will come with a 13-megapixel sensor, while the front-facing selfie-cam on the handset is rumored to be a 16-megapixel unit. Connectivity options on the smartphone will include 4G LTE and the phone will be offered in Gold and Silver color options. The Nubia Z17 Mini will weigh 160 grams and measure 146 mm in length, 72.14 mm in width, and 8.1 mm in thickness.
