A new Samsung smartphone has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, if a recent posting on the organization’s website is anything to go by. The device has the model number SM-J730FM, and is believed to be the next-generation Galaxy J7 smartphone that will very likely be marketed as the Galaxy J7 (2017) if the company’s naming convention for its recent mid-range handsets is anything to go by. The device has already been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and has also received its seal of approval from the FCC, so it will be interesting to see how long it will take for Samsung to make it official. Meanwhile, the listing on the Bluetooth SIG website doesn’t really reveal a whole lot about the upcoming handset, but earlier rumors seem to indicate that it will ship with mid-range hardware, just like its predecessor, the Galaxy J7 (2016).

According to rumors, the Galaxy J7 (2017) will feature a 5.5-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Other key tech-specs include a 2.2 GHz octa-core CPU, alongside 2GB of RAM plus 16GB of internal storage. Imaging options on the upcoming Samsung mid-ranger will apparently include a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, all of which are along expected lines for a mid-range smartphone these days, although, some users will probably want a little more RAM and on-board storage. Not much else is known about the Galaxy J7 (2017), but more info will hopefully be available sooner rather than later.

Samsung, of course, has been having a very busy time of late, having just unveiled its much-awaited smartphones – the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The devices were announced at an event in New York City earlier this week, but is already up for pre-order at all major U.S. carriers and also on Samsung’s own website. While the relatively smaller Galaxy S8 starts at $750 for the 64GB version, the larger Galaxy S8 Plus costs $100 more. Samsung is also throwing in some nice freebies with its latest premium handsets. All customers who pre-order either of the two devices before April 20 will get a free Gear VR headset with the new motion controller.
