The Verizon variant of the mid-range LG K8 (2017) has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, if a recent listing on the organization’s website is anything to go by. The device carries the model number LG-VS501, and is expected to be available at big red in the coming weeks. As is the case with the unlocked model, the Verizon-bound version is also compliant with Bluetooth v4.2, but that’s pretty much all the info available in this particular listing. That’s because as expected, the listing on the Bluetooth SIG website doesn’t reveal a whole lot about the hardware specs of the device in question, but the phone has already been on the market for a while now, and its hardware specs are already listed on LG’s own website.

The LG K8 (2017) was officially announced by the South Korean electronics company last December, just ahead of the CES 2017 trade show in Las Vegas. The device is an upgrade over the first-generation LG K8 that was launched earlier in the year as part of the company’s K-series lineup. Apart from the K8 (2017), LG’s second-generation K series includes a number of other devices, including the entry level LG K3 (2017) and the LG K4 (2017). The lineup also includes the LG K10 (2017), which is expected to be the most premium of the lot. As for the LG K8 (2017), the device has just gone on sale at U.S. Cellular this week at a price of $150 without contract, and is expected to be available globally in the coming days. The handset is also currently available at T-Mobile as the LG Astro, so it will be interesting to see when Verizon will finally launch it on its own network.

The LG K8 (2017) comes with modest hardware and is targeted at the prepaid market for the most part. The smartphone features a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. It packs just 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded by way of a microSD card. Imaging options include an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front, while a 2,500mAh battery keeps the lights on. On the software side of things, the LG K8 (2017) runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
