The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the more popular device in the Galaxy S8 family, likely due to its large 6.2-inch display and 3500mAh battery. It is still made of glass and because of that it’s pretty fragile, so most people are going to be looking for a case for their Galaxy S8 Plus and Caseology has a pretty good set of cases for the Galaxy S8 Plus, including the Vault II case. It’s a pretty simple looking case, but it makes the Galaxy S8 Plus look good while still being protected and not adding a lot of bulk to the device.
The Vault II is a TPU case that is only available in black, but it has a bit of grip added on the back, thanks to the diagonal pattern on the backside. This makes the Galaxy S8 Plus easier to hold onto when using it, so that you don’t drop the device, which is something that none of us wants to deal with. It does have an opening on the back for the camera and the fingerprint sensor, with the left and right edges being bevelled a bit. This makes it easier to use the fingerprint sensor, and it also makes it easier to use the heart rate monitor. The rest of the case looks pretty minimal, and clean.
There are also openings on the bottom for the speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB-C connector. And there’s one at the top for the microphone. The cutout around the headphone jack and USB-C connector are a bit larger than the ports are, and that’s to make it easier to plug in things like your headphones and charger.
Since this is a fairly thin case, you are still able to use wireless charging on the Galaxy S8 Plus without needing to remove the case on the device. That’s a big deal for a lot of people, as it could be a deal breaker for those that love to use wireless charging. Remember that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus both feature wireless charging. Now with the curved display, the case is a bit odd, as the top and bottom meeting the sides is not a straight line. It’s slightly curved so that it works with the curved display. And yes, you are still able to use the curved display features with this case. That’s not a surprise, but it’s still worth noting.
The Caseology Vault II case has been on the Galaxy S8 Plus for a few days and we absolutely love the look and feel of this case. For a case that is under $10, it’s hard to find something better. While it is a TPU case, and doesn’t offer as much protection as some of the Otterbox cases on the market, it does still offer some protection. So if you drop your Galaxy S8 Plus, it shouldn’t spell death for your brand new smartphone, which is always important. Unfortunately, Caseology only sells the Vault II in one color, which is black. While that is unfortunate, the black color does look good on the silver model that we have here.
