The Google Play Awards will be part of Google I/O 2017 this year, and will take place on May 18th at 6:30PM PDT. Google has announced the nominees for this year’s Google Play Awards, and have also announced that there are a few new categories in this year’s awards. Those award categories include Best VR/AR Experience, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Social Impact, and Best Accessibility Experience. Google also notes that some of the countries of the nominees include China, South Korea, Brazil, Russia, France, Vietnam, and Uraguay. Showing that Google Play is widely popular around the world, with developers in all kinds of different countries.

Standout Indie: nominees include Causality, Kingdom: New Lands, Mars: Mars, Mushroom 11 and Reigns. The Standout Indie category is full of apps and games that have an artistic design, great game mechanics and more. Standout Startup: nominees are CastBox, Digit, Discord, HOOKED and Simple Habit. Best Android Wear Experience: nominees include Bring!, Foursquare City Guide, Lifesum, Runtastic, and Seven. Best TV Experience: includes AbemaTV, Haystack TV, KKBox, Netflix, and Redbull TV. Best VR Experience: nominees are Gunjack 2: End of Shift, Mekorama VR, The Arcslinger, The Turning Forest, and Virtual Virtual Reality. Best AR Experience: nominees include Crayola Color Blaster, Dinosaurs Among Us, Holo, Wayfair View, and WOORLD. Best App for Kids: include Animal Jam – Play Wild!, Hot Wheels: Race Off, Teeny Titans, Think! Think!, and Toca Life: Vacations. Best Multiplayer Game: nominees are Dawn of Titans, FIFA Mobile, Hearthstone, Lords Mobile, and Modern Strike Online. Nominees for Best App include Citymapper, Fabulous, Memrise, Money Lover, and Quik. Best Game nominees are Choices, Fire Emblem Heroes, Lineage 2 Revolution, Pokemon GO, and Transformers: Forged to Fight. Best Accessibility Impact nominees are A Blind Legend, Eye-D, IFTTT, Open Sesame, and SwiftKey Symbols. Finally, the nominees for Best Social Impact include Charity Miles, Peek Acuity, Prodeaf, Sea Hero Quest, and ShareTheMeal.

Google has common requirements for all apps and games in these categories which includes having a high star rating, technical performance and freshness, and also they need to have a major update or have been launched since April 2016. Google will be announcing the winners from all 12 categories at the Google Play Awards ceremony at Google I/O next month.
