A recent report is seemingly shedding more light on Samsung’s alleged plans for the distribution of the Android 8.0 Oreo beta build for the Galaxy S8 series, claiming that the experimental OS will be released in at least a couple of phases, with each one targeting a different set of countries. The report mentions that the beta program will initially launch in the United States, South Korea and the United Kingdom, with additional countries being set for being added to the program as part of its second phase.

While no exact rollout time frames have been revealed, the report claims that the second Android 8.0 Oreo beta wave for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be launched in China, France, Germany, India, Poland, and Spain. It’s also worth reminding that a recent rumor hinted at the possibility of the beta program commencing on October 31st in the United States, and in light of the new report, it would seem that the UK and South Korea could enjoy the same treatment from tomorrow as well. Regardless of how the story will pan out by the end of the week, Samsung has yet to make any official comments regarding the update’s availability so only time will tell whether the recent reports are accurate. It also remains to be seen whether the beta program will continue to expand into additional regions following the launch of its supposed second phase.

As for prospective beta program participants, Samsung Galaxy S8 owners will be able to sign up for future Android 8.0 Oreo beta builds by joining the Galaxy Beta Program using the Samsung Members application, available on the Google Play Store as well as Samsung’s own Galaxy Apps storefront. Keep in mind that the beta phase is meant for testing the software ahead of a wider public release so whenever the update will arrive, it will likely contain some bugs or missing features. Generally speaking, Android 8.0 Oreo should introduce new multitasking tools, better performance and stability, as well as improved battery life, and Samsung’s own release will likely contain additional features specific to its proprietary mobile skin.
