The newly announced HTC U11 Life is coming to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, the Taiwanese original equipment manufacturer confirmed on Thursday, immediately after unveiling its latest Android-powered mid-ranger. While the company will start accepting pre-orders in the U.K. later today, it appears that its new smartphone will already be released in the U.S. and Canada on Friday, with the firm specifically stating that T-Mobile stores across the country will start selling the device starting November 3rd. No specific availability details for Canadian consumers have been provided as of this writing, save for the fact that only the Sapphire Blue variant of the handset will apparently be sold in the country, priced at $449 CAD. The price tag of the HTC U11 Life in the U.S. is virtually identical when converted, sitting at $349, with the handset’s stateside availability also being limited to its blue model for the time being.
On the other side of the Atlantic, British consumers will have to pay £349 for the device, which translates to approximately $462. In addition to the Sapphire Blue variant, they’ll also be able to opt for the Brilliant Black one, HTC said. The Android One variant of the HTC U11 Life will debut in Germany via MediaMarkt and Amazon.de, Google revealed shortly after the phone was announced, adding that the handset is also set to expand its availability to other European countries and Asia Pacific in late 2017 and early 2018.
Different markets are also set to receive significantly different models of the device; while the one Android One edition is more expensive, it also comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage space, and runs a stock version of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. On the other hand, the cheaper variant of the phone set to go on sale in North America will feature half the storage space, 3GB of RAM, and the proprietary HTC Sense software suite based on Android 7.1 Nougat, which should explain the ≈$110 price difference. In overall, the availability details of the HTC U11 Life are all over the place and it remains to be seen whether local divisions of HTC clarify the situation in the coming days.
