Samsung has just announced two new mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018). These two smartphones look the same in terms of the design, but they do differ in terms of size, as their names suggest. Both smartphones are made out of metal and glass, and both ship with Infinity displays, and a rounded display corners. The fingerprint scanner is located right below the main camera on both devices, while an LED flash lies next to the main camera sensor. Bezels on these two handsets are quite thin, considerably thinner than on the last year’s Galaxy A8, that’s for sure.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) may not have a dual camera setup on the back, but they do have on the front, Samsung has decided to include 16-megapixel (f/1.9 aperture) and 8-megapixel (f/1.9 aperture) shooters on the front side of these two handsets. Both Galaxy A8 (2018) smartphones are also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, and the size is not the only difference between these two phones, but let’s first go through the remaining specs that they both share. Samsung’s Exynos 7885 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor fuels both of these phones, while they both ship with two SIM card slots. You can expand storage on both of these devices via a microSD card which can be inserted in the second SIM card slots, and it allows for storage expansion up to 256GB. Android 7.1.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), while you will find Samsung’s custom UI on top of Google’s OS. A 16-megapixel snapper (f/1.7 aperture) is placed on the back of both Galaxy A8 (2018) smartphones, and they both ship with Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and 4G LTE with VoLTE.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) sports a 5.6-inch fullHD+ (2220 x 1080) Super AMOLED Infinity display, while the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ (2220 x 1080) Super AMOLED infinity panel. The Galaxy A8 (2018) comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of native storage, depending on which variant you opt to get. The Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), on the other hand, sports a 3,500mAh battery (with adaptive charging, just like its smaller sibling), 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. The Galaxy A8 (2018) measures 149.2 x 70.6 x 8.4mm, while it weighs 172 grams. The Galaxy A8 (2018) measures in at 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm, while it weighs 191 grams. Both of these phones come in Black, Orchid Gray, Gold and Blue color variants. The Galaxy A8 (2018) is priced at €499 ($588), while the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) costs €599 ($706) in Europe. Both of these handsets will go on sale starting early next month, so stay tuned.
