Huawei has just sent out invites for an event happening in Paris on March 27th. That is pretty soon after Mobile World Congress, where the company is expected to make some announcements, in the mobile space. Many believe that Huawei will announce the P20 at this event in Paris in March. Which would make sense, seeing as Huawei usually announces the P-series smartphones in late March or early April and usually in London. So the change of venue is a bit interesting, but doesn’t mean that it’s not the P20.
At Mobile World Congress, it’s likely that Huawei could announce updates to its Matebook lineup of Windows-powered laptops and tablets. Which is what the company did at MWC 2017. Huawei has not announced what is coming at Mobile World Congress just yet, which isn’t a surprise, considering most companies don’t announce what they are announcing before they announce it. But there is plenty of speculation running around Huawei right now. It is interesting that Huawei is opting to announce its flagship less than a month after Mobile World Congress – the largest mobile trade show of the year – wraps up, but this could also be due to the fact that Samsung is likely to steal the show with the Galaxy S9.
The Huawei P20 is said to be three different devices, which is normal for Huawei as well. That would be a Huawei P20, P20 Lite and P20 Plus. With the regular model, then a smaller and a larger model. The P20 Lite could turn out to be a mid-range device, with a smaller display, so that Huawei could hit all of the price points with this lineup. Expect The Huawei P20 to be running on the Kirin 970 processor, which the company announced last year and is also seen in the Mate 10 Pro smartphone that released last fall. Additionally, Huawei is likely going to continue its partnership with Leica, with dual-cameras on these smartphones. Huawei has been working with Leica on its smartphone cameras for quite a few years, and have come up with some great cameras in recent years with the P10, Mate 9 and Mate 10.
