Samsung appears to be working on a number of new and updated Galaxy J devices. The South Korean’s most recent iteration of its Galaxy A series saw the lineup move up the price chain, leaving an empty bracket in the tech giant’s portfolio. Now, it appears the company is hoping to expand the Galaxy J lineup further in the hope of eventually filling in these pricing gaps.
Kicking off the 2018 Galaxy J lineup is expected to be an updated version of the Galaxy J3, which has recently been spotted on Geekbench sporting two different processors. The first variant, which goes by the name of SM-J337A, includes Samsung’s Exynos 7570 processor, whereas the second is identified as the SM-J337P and is apparently more powerful thanks to the included Exynos 7885 chipset. In either case, both devices include a respectable 2GB of RAM and run Android 8.0 Oreo. It’s unclear if Samsung has plans to release a more powerful variant of the Galaxy J3 (2018), or if these are only test units. If it chooses to do so, it could potentially be sold under the “Galaxy J3 Achieve” name in the U.S. After all, the company recently filed for the trademark in the country, hinting at a future variant of the device. If benchmarks are anything to go by, the South Korean giant also appears to have plans for a device advertised as the Galaxy J4, which would mark the first time the company utilizes that name. The device appeared on Geekbench under the name SM-J400F, but was on par with the Galaxy J3 variants in terms of performance due to the included Exynos 7570 processor. Also, just like the Galaxy J3 variants, the new Galaxy J4 is listed as including 2GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo.
Filling out the Galaxy J (2018) range even further looks to be a new Galaxy J6, going by the model number SM-J600F, which is notably faster than the other devices. Included inside is said to be Samsung’s Exynos 7870, alongside 2GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. Lastly, rounding out the new Galaxy J lineup could be a new Galaxy J7 variant, rumored to be called the J7 Refine – a name Samsung recently trademarked in the U.S.
