Fitbit today at Mobile World Congress 2018 has announced the Adidas Edition of the Ionic smartwatch in collaboration with the well-known sports brand, which stems from a partnership that Adidas and Fitbit initially announced back in 2017. The new Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition will be mostly the same as the original Ionic save for a handful of special features and hardware differences that you will only get with the Adidas Edition, like the new band and the new exclusive clock faces. While there aren’t too many difference between this and the standard Ionic, it has been designed with athletes and runners in mind and caters to them with certain features.

For instance, the Adidas Edition Ionic will pair with the Adidas Train application that can be installed on smartphones to deliver a unique coaching experience to the wearer. The Train app includes six different workouts to get into, all of them focused on running and ranging from five to fifteen minutes including Dynamic Warm Up, Power Pace, Metabolic, Run Activation, Strong Strides, and finally a Post Run Stretch. With the help of the app and the coaching feature wearers of the Adidas Edition Ionic will get step-by-step instructions on how to go through each movement and workout to ensure correct execution.

In addition to the Train app and the coaching through workouts, the Adidas Edition Ionic will also come with a two-toned breathable, swim-ready sport band that should lend itself well to any activity, though other accessories that are already available for the standard Ionic will work with the Adidas Edition too. The band will only come in one two-toned color combination of Ink Blue and Ice Gray, with a silver watch case to round things off. Customization continues with the exclusive clock face which will come in four different color options, though Fitbit doesn’t mention what these four colors are. Those who are interested in the Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition will be able to place a pre-order for the watch at Fitbit’s own website, and beginning on March 19 it’ll also be possible to buy the watch when it goes on sale through other retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, at a cost of $329.95.
