The ASUS ZenFone 5Z is the company’s new flagship smartphone, it was announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) today, and we’re here to take a closer look at the phone’s spec sheet. Before we get to that, however, it is worth noting that ASUS introduced three smartphones today, other than the ZenFone 5Z, the company also announced the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Q, both of which are inferior to the ZenFone 5Z. The ZenFone 5Z is made out of metal and glass, and as far as the design is concerned, this phone is identical to the ZenFone 5.

The device sports a dual camera setup on the back, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, while thin bezels are also a part of the package. Now, you will notice a notch at the top of the phone’s display, while all of its physical keys are included on the right. Having said that, the device features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ IPS display, and we’re looking at a 19:9 display aspect ratio, mainly because of that notch up top. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, which you can expand using a microSD card slot. Speaking of which, we’re looking at a hybrid dual SIM setup here, you can either use two nano SIM cards, or a nano SIM card and a microSD card (second nano SIM card slot). This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, while the Adreno 630 GPU is also a part of that package. A 3,300mAh non-removable battery is included inside of this smartphone and it is boosted by the ASUS BoostMaster and AI charging, says the company.

On the back of the ASUS ZenFone 5Z you will find two cameras, a 12-megapixel main snapper (Sony’s IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 83-degree lens, 16-scene AI scene detection), and a secondary 120-degree wide-angle lens, though we’re still not sure what sensor is included here, nor how many megapixels are we looking at, but we’re presuming 12 as well. An 8-megapixel shooter (f/2.0 aperture, PixelMaster camera modes) is placed on the front side of the ZenFone 5Z, while the device is capable of shooting 4K video at 60FPS with its main snapper. Android Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, while ASUS ZenUI 5.0 skin comes included on top of it. Bluetooth 5.0 is also included in the package, as is a Type-C USB port which sits at the bottom of the phone. ASUS says that the phone’s fingerprint scanner can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds, while you also get facial recognition tech here, which uses the phone’s front-facing camera.

Now, as far as audio is concerned, the ZenFone 5Z sports two 5-magnet speakers with dual NXP smart amplifiers. It also comes with a PMIC internal dual amplifier, and triple internal microphones with ASUS Noise Reduction. The phone supports both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE bands, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The ASUS ZenFone 5Z will be available in Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver color variants, while its dimensions are still unknown.
