Samsung introduced its new flagship smartphones today, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, and despite the fact they look almost identical, they do ship with somewhat different spec sheets, so we’re here to take a closer look at what the Galaxy S9 has to offer in that regard. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus would be completely identical in terms of the design, if not for the camera difference, the Galaxy S9 sports a single camera on the back, while the Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a dual camera setup. The two devices are also different in size, thanks to differently-sized displays. Having said that, let’s talk more about the Galaxy S9’s specs, shall we.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a phone made out of metal and glass, and it comes in two SoC variants, just like its big brother. The Galaxy S9 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor in some markets, which is Qualcomm’s flagship processor, while in other regions, it will ship with Samsung’s Exynos 9810 64-bit octa-core flagship SoC. Both of these processors are made using 10nm manufacturing process, in case you were wondering. The Galaxy S9 packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of flash storage (availability will differ from one region to the other), which you can expand using a microSD card slot (up to 400GB). The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ (2960 x 1440) Curved Super AMOLED display, which comes with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, similar to the one used in the Galaxy S8. A 3,000mAh non-removable battery is included in the Galaxy S9, while you will be able to utilize fast charging in order to replenish it, both wired (Quick Charge 2.0) and wireless. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S9 does come with support for wireless charging, both Qi and PMA standards are included. Samsung has also included 4G LTE (Cat. 18) in the Galaxy S9 Plus, same goes for NFC.

A single 12-megapixel Super Speed Dual Pixel shooter (f/1.5 / f/2.4 dynamic aperture) is included on the back of the Galaxy S9, while the phone’s fingerprint scanner lies right below that camera. An LED flash is also available on the back of the phone, and it sits right next to the phone’s main snapper, while an 8-megapixel shooter (f/1.7 aperture) can be found on the phone’s front side. Bluetooth 5.0 is included in the Galaxy S9 package as well, while the phone comes with an Iris scanner as well, and the same can be said for facial recognition, and stereo speakers tuned by AKG, and surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Galaxy S9, while the company’s Samsung Experience UI 9.0 lies on top of Google’s operating system. A Type-C USB 3.1 charging port sits on the bottom of the Galaxy S9, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while it will be available in both single SIM (nano SIM) and dual SIM (nano SIM + nano SIM / nano SIM + microSD slot) variants, depending on where you purchase it. The phone measures 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 163 grams. It is also worth noting that the company announce this handset in Lilac Purple, Midnight Black and Coral Blue color variants.
