The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus were announced earlier today in Barcelona, we’ve already talked about both of those phones, and took a closer look at the Galaxy S9’s specs, so it’s time to do the same for the Galaxy S9 Plus. Before we start talking about specs, though, it’s worth noting that the Galaxy S9 Plus looks almost the same as the Galaxy S9, it’s larger, and the only difference in terms of the design lies on the back of the device, as the Galaxy S9 Plus sports a dual camera setup on the back, compared to a single camera on the Galaxy S9. Having said that, let’s talk about the Galaxy S9 Plus’ specs, shall we.

The Galaxy S9 Plus is made out of metal and glass, its top bezels is slightly thicker than its bottom bezels, while a fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the phone, and it’s in a much more convenient place now. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a power / lock key which is placed on its right-hand side, while the volume up, volume down and Bixby keys can be found on the left. The device is fueled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, in some markets, like the US, for example, while the Exynos 9810 64-bit octa-core processor by Samsung fuels the Galaxy S9 Plus in Europe and some other markets. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 400GB via a microSD card). Now, the first thing you will notice when you grab the phone and look at it, is the device’s 6.2-inch QHD+ (2960 x 1440) Curved Super AMOLED display, which comes with an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio. Speaking of which, a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5 is placed on the back of the device as well. The Galaxy S9 Plus’ display is curved on the sides, as was the case with the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and the Note 8 last year. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, along with Samsung’s Experience UI 9.0. 4G LTE (Cat. 18) is included here as well, and so is NFC. The Galaxy S9 also comes with stereo speakers tuned by AKG, and surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology.

Two 12-megapixel snappers are included on the back of the Galaxy S9 Plus, one camera features f/1.5 / f/2.4 dynamic aperture, while the other one is a telephoto camera (f/2.4 aperture). An 8-megapixel shooter (f/1.5 aperture) is included on the front side of the phone, while you will find a 3,500mAh non-removable battery on the inside of this phone. Speaking of the battery, the device supports both wired (Quick Charge 2.0) and wireless fast charging, and you can utilize both Qi and PMA wireless charging standards. Bluetooth 5.0 is included in the Galaxy S9 Plus, while the device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. A Type-C USB 3.1 port is included at the bottom of the phone, and the same can be said for a 3.5mm headphone jack. Both an Iris scanner, and facial recognition technology are included here, while the phone supports a wide range of 4G LTE bands. This handset will be available in both single SIM (nano SIM) and dual SIM (nano SIM + nano SIM / nano SIM + microSD slot) variants. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes in Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, Titanium Gray and Coral Blue color variants, while it measures 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5mm, and weighs 189 grams.
