The newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are officially up for pre-order at a growing number of carriers and Vodafone in the UK is another provider which joins that list. Perhaps the most anticipated flagship to be shown at this year’s MWC 2018 event, the devices will be available in three distinct colors on the company’s unlimited plan for new customers and as an upgrade for current subscribers. Those include Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. As is always the case with new device launches, the smartphones will be shipped out on a first come, first served basis. However, for customers who order before 10 pm on March 8, customers can expect to see the first devices shipping to arrive early on March 9 while supplies last.
As to pricing, the smaller Samsung Galaxy S9 is available for £59 per month with a £29 down payment. Meanwhile, the larger Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus starts out at a slightly higher £63 per month and carries a down payment of £99. With regard to the specs of the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung has taken a somewhat different approach this year and there are a few differences between the two as a result. As mentioned above, the Galaxy S9 Plus is the larger of the two handsets with a 6.2-inch screen and measuring in at 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5mm, with a weight of 189g. Conversely, the Galaxy S9 measures 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5mm and weighs in at 163g, with a 5.8-inch display. The battery pack found in each is also different, as the Galaxy S9 ships with a 3,000mAh battery compared to the Galaxy S9 Plus’s 3,500mAh battery. Both are non-removable. Aside from that, the larger device features a dual-camera setup rated at 12-megapixels as compared to the single 12-megapixel shooter on the Samsung Galaxy S9. Finally, the Galaxy S9 ships with 64GB of expandable storage compared to the Galaxy S9 Plus’s 128GB. Meanwhile, both devices feature a main camera that supports up to 960 frames per second slow motion capture and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. Each is also driven by the latest octa-core Exynos 9810 SoC backed by 4GB of RAM.
