The standalone Daydream virtual reality (VR) headset from Lenovo called Mirage Solo and the company’s Mirage VR180 camera are now available for pre-orders from the B&H. It was previously reported that the Moonlight White version of the VR headset will become available for purchase in the second quarter of the year with a price tag south of $400, and B&H Photo’s product listing coincides with that information. The Mirage Solo can be pre-ordered for $399.99 with an estimated availability date of May 11, while the Mirage VR180 camera retails for $299.99.

The Mirage Solo marks Lenovo’s foray into the VR race. The Daydream headset was first spotted last December via a certification published by the United States Federal Communications Commission. The headgear helps to expand Google’s ecosystem of VR headsets which was pioneered by the smartphone-dependent Daydream VR headset. The Mirage Solo, however, ups the ante by not relying on any external equipment such as a computer or mobile device as it is a standalone VR headset. Additionally, the Mirage VR180 is a camera powered by Google’s VR platform that is designed for making VR content compatible with YouTube’s new VR180 format.

As a quick recap, the Mirage Solo VR headset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip and also packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS-standard memory. It includes a 5.5-inch LCD panel with a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The headset’s plastic display module has a 110-degree field of view and a refresh rate of 75Hz, which is 15Hz lower than what the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift are offering. The Mirage Solo runs Android Nougat-based Daydream OS and ships with a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes with two microphones and a microSD card slot that can be used to expand its storage by up to 256GB. Meanwhile, the Mirage VR180 camera features two 13-megapixel fisheye lenses sitting next to one another. Lenovo says the camera is built to record footage at slightly different angles in order to produce content with more depth that is close to a three-dimensional image.
