The developers at nWay Inc. have a brand new title called ChronoBlade on the Google Play Store that combines the best elements of side-scrolling beat-em-up with action RPG elements. The result is an experience that’s both familiar and utterly unique. Players can choose from four main characters, each with their own backstory, to fulfill the hero role and save the earth in its many incarnations across the multiverse. Each level has its own unique challenges and gameplay focuses on massive move-sets, customization, timing, dodging, attacking and counterattacking. Skills will be put to the test at the end of those levels as players work to take down massive bosses and save the day.

Since this is an RPG-style game, each brings its own unique abilities as well, with around 30 moves that can be mastered and used in combination. Of course, it goes without saying that means characters are also customizable so players can express their own flair in-game. Between the drawn-out story levels, there’s a real-time Player vs. Player mode as well. nWay says it built the combat in the mode on top of the experience it gained from its previous mobile gaming hit, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars. Customizable equipment and move lists are brought over from ChronoBlade’s main game to PvP, as well, so players will be able to play in their preferred play style in any of the modes. Meanwhile, controls are optimized to be as smooth as possible in order to keep things fair when playing online.

Bearing all of that in mind, it’s no surprise that ChronoBlade is currently featured on Google Play as the number one trending action title. It’s also free to play. However, it bears mentioning that anybody interested in checking it out will need a handset running at least Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will need around 500MB of free space – due to extra resources that need to be downloaded. Moreover, there are in-app purchases range from around $1 to $100 and some reviewers have indicated that buying those might become necessary over time. With that said, it’s definitely worth checking out for fans of classic action titled and RPGs alike.
