Honor China has just announced that the Honor 10 will be announced in the country on April 19. Having said that, the company started sending out invites for the May 15 London event a while back, and even though the Honor 10 name was not specifically mentioned, the invite did suggest a new phone is coming, so we presumed that the Honor 10 is the device in question. It seems like that presumption was spot on, as the global event will take place on May 15, while the Chinese version of the phone will launch about a month before it, on April 19.

The company’s Honor 10 invite does not exactly share all that much info, but based on it, we can deduct that the phone will sport a glass back, just like the Honor 8 and Honor 9, its predecessor. A dual camera setup will also be included on the Honor 10, as that is yet another piece of info the company’s images confirm. Now, if you take a look at the phone itself, well, a shape in the invite that is supposed to represent a phone, you will notice the Huawei P20’s signature Twilight color is teased here, so that probably means that the Honor 10 will be available in a Twilight color variant, just like the Huawei P20, though other models will also launch, of course. Having said that, the Honor 10 is rumored to arrive with a display notch, and even a real-life image surfaced suggesting that it represents the Honor 10, but the company’s official April 15 event invite did not show a notch, though that probably has nothing to do with it, as pretty much everyone is expecting the Honor 10 to ship with a notch.

The Honor 10 will be considerably more affordable than both the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, while the device will be fueled by the Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core SoC, Huawei’s flagship processor which fuels both the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, along with the company’s Mate-branded flagships. The Honor 10 will include face scanning, and we’re still not sure where will its fingerprint scanner sit, if the leaked image is to be believed, however, it will be located below the display, just like on the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The phone will almost certainly ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, while on top of it you’ll get Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 8.1 skin.
