Honor is planning to announce a new smartphone on May 15 in London. The company has started sending out invites for the event, and as you can see in the provided image, a phone is definitely coming. In addition to teasing the phone itself, Honor also puts great focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence) here, by using the ‘Beauty in AI’ caption. Having said that, the company did not share any more info, but we have a pretty good guess as to what to expect.

The Honor 9 smartphone was announced back in June last year, and at the time, it was the company’s flagship handset. The Honor View 10 was announced in December last year, and it took the ‘flagship’ mantle, but it seems like it will be joined by yet another handset, as we’re pretty confident that Honor plans to introduce the Honor 10 on May 15. The Honor 10 will become the company’s new flagship handset, though it will almost certainly be fueled by the same SoC as the Honor View 10, but it will probably be considerably smaller. The Honor 9 arrived with a 5.15-inch display, and plenty of bezel above and below the display, well, the Honor 10 will trim down those bezels quite a bit, at least that’s what the company is expected to do, and it will sport a larger display than the Honor 9, but it will probably keep a similar aspect ratio. Flagship smartphones are usually quite large there days, though there are some exceptions out there, and the Honor 10 will probably be one of them.

The Honor 10 will be fueled by the Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core processor, Huawei’s flagship processor which fuels the company’s Mate 10 flagship series, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, and also the aforementioned Honor View 10 handset. The Kirin 970 uses AI in order to offer stellar performance, and Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) also comes with a number of AI features, which tie in with the Kirin 970 SoC. Well, Honor’s devices do ship with Emotion UI, so you can expect to see Emotion UI 8.1 on the Honor 10, which will be installed on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, that’s at least what we’re expecting to see. The alleged Honor 10 actually surfaced quite recently in a real-life image, even though its design was partially hidden. That leak suggested that the phone will ship with a display notch, though Honor’s teaser does not show us a notch of any type, so it remains to be seen if it will ship with or without a notch. The company will almost certainly share more info about the device via teasers before May 15, so stay tuned.
