ASUS appears ready to announce another smartphone in the ZenFone Max M1 lineup, this time as the ZenFone Max Pro M1. And according to a leak, it’s going to sport “Pure” Android Oreo. Which is a bit of an interesting thing, seeing as ASUS does run a skinned version of Android on its smartphones, and “pure” could hint at an Android One style smartphone, without using the branding. Although we don’t know for sure, and likely won’t until ASUS officially announces the device.

There are some other specs that are part of this leak, which includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 running the show here. That’s a change from the MediaTek processor inside the ZenFone Max Plus M1, along with 6GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. There’s also a 6-inch display in a 5.5-inch body, using ASUS‘ Full-View display here. ASUS has packed in a 5000mAh capacity battery here, which should keep it running all day long and then some. There appears to be a dual-camera setup on the backside, “up to 16-megapixel” though the leak is in Indonesian, so a bit difficult to figure out what specifically is here, but looks like Portrait mode will be available. There’s also a front-facing 16-megapixel camera here. ASUS is also including face unlock and a fingerprint sensor.

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 is appearing to be a pretty good smartphone, especially for those that want a decent phone with killer battery. Which appears to be the identity behind this new line that ASUS is building right now, in the ZenFone Max. That’s definitely a good thing, seeing as there are people that do want a phone that can last all day under heavy usage, without paying a ton for that device. There’s no word on when exactly this phone is going to be announced, but it could be landing fairly soon.
