ASUS has officially launched its new ZenFone Live L1, which comes as the company’s very first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone. Android Oreo (Go Edition) is a lighter version of Google’s popular mobile operating system, specifically designed with budget handsets in mind. While higher-end devices typically come with powerful specifications that can handle a slew of tasks, budget ones may not always have the necessary horsepower to pull off more advanced features. That’s where Android Oreo (Go Edition) comes in, optimizing the performance of devices with as little as 512MB or 1GB of RAM to ensure a smooth and fluid performance.

The new ASUS ZenFone Live L1 comes with the model number ZA550KL and is now available in Indonesia, sporting decent specifications and a budget-friendly price tag. The Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone features a 4.45-inch display with an HD+ (1,440 x 720) resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a high screen-to-body ratio for the low-end segment. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip powers the handset with its four cores clocked at 1.4GHz, with an Adreno 308 GPU included, and should deliver decent performance for this category. Other specs include dual-SIM support, a 3,000 mAh battery, 4G VoLTE, and a 5-megapixel front camera with Face Unlock capabilities.

When it comes to the rest of the specifications, the ZenFone Live L1 actually comes in two variants – an Android Oreo (Go Edition) version and a regular model. The Android Oreo (Go Edition) version of the Zenfone Live 1 comes with just 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage space, and an 8-megapixel main camera. The regular version, meanwhile, comes with 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and ASUS’s ZenUI 5 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. The Android Oreo (Go Edition) is listed on the company’s website already, but no pricing details are available at this point. The regular version of the ZenFone Live L1 will start at Rp 1,399,000 (about $99) for the model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and goes up to Rp 1,699,99 (roughly $120) for the version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. A flash sale set to be held May 21 should see the handset priced even lower. Available color options include Midnight Black, Rose Pink, and Shimmer Gold.
