The variant of the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe with model number ZS570KL is currently receiving a software package that will upgrade the handset’s operating system to Android 8.0 Oreo. After installing the update, users will be able to take advantage of features including the Picture-in-Picture mode, the notification dots functionality, and the autofill feature. The Picture-in-Picture mode permits users to view two applications at the same time by showing one app in a smaller window that is placed on top of another application. On the other hand, the notification dots feature alerts users on which applications have notifications directly on the home screen, and tapping the notification dots will open a selection of quick in-app actions. Meanwhile, the autofill functionality reduces the time spent by the user in logging in to websites and applications by remembering important information like passwords and usernames.

Aside from the upgraded version of the Android operating system, the update also brings software changes that are specific to the device. The software package introduces changes to the launcher of the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe. Users may now swipe up to open the app drawer, and the all apps icon has been modified. A number of pre-installed applications will also be removed after installing the software upgrade, including TripAdvisor, Puffin Browser, and Kindle. Meanwhile, ZenMotion, a feature that permits users to control the device using gestures, will now be turned off by default after the device has been updated. The Privacy Settings of the device has also been modified, and this software package also adds support for the Voice-over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service of the Taiwanese telecom firm Chunghwa Telecom.

Before installing the software upgrade, the Taiwanese device maker advises users to backup the files and images stored in the handset to a microSD card or a personal computer to prevent loss of important data. ASUS further mentioned that it could take several days before the software upgrade reaches all units of the device. In addition, users should also verify if the smartphone’s battery has sufficient charge to last the entire update process. It should be noted that the Taiwanese device maker has already upgraded another variant of the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe, which has the model number ZS550KL, to Android 8.0 Oreo last March.
