Samsung has just officially announced two new mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus. These two phones had surfaced on Samsung Indonesia website yesterday, and even though that listing shared plenty of detail, we did not have the full story, but the company made sure to change that now. As as the design is concerned, these two phones are almost identical, the only difference comes to their size, and camera setups on the back, as the Galaxy A6 Plus has two rear-facing cameras, compared to the Galaxy A6’s single camera. The Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus are made out of metal, while they bot sport right-facing power / lock key, and a left-facing volume up and down buttons. Both phones also feature a fingerprint scanner on the back, and both utilize on-screen buttons.

The Galaxy A6 features a 5.6-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) Super AMOLED Infinity display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. The phone is fueled by the Exynos 7870 64-bit octa-core SoC which is clocked at 1.6GHz. This handset comes with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card). The device comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, on top of which you’ll get Samsung’s custom UI. A 16-megapixel camera (f/1.7 aperture) is included on the back of the Galaxy A6, along with an LED flash. On the front side of the phone, you will also find a 16-megapixel camera (f/1.9 aperture), though we’re looking at a different sensor and lens here. A 3,000mAh battery is also a part of the Galaxy A6 package, while the phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it comes with Dolby Atmos audio. Samsung has decided to include Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity in the Galaxy A6, while the phone measures 149.9 x 70.8 x 7.7mm.

The Galaxy A6 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a 6-inch fullHD+ (2220 x 1080) Super AMOLED Infinity display with a sheet of 2.5D curved glass. An unknown 64-bit octa-core processor (some reports say it’s the Snapdragon 450) fuels the Galaxy A6 Plus, and it is clocked at 1.8GHz. The device features 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card). Android 8.0 Oreo is pre-installed on the Galaxy A6 Plus, with Samsung’s Experience UI, and a 3,500mAh battery is also included in this package. 16-megapixel (f/1.7 aperture) and 5-megapixel (f/1.9 aperture) cameras are located on the back of the Galaxy A6 Plus, while a single 24-megapixel camera (f/1.9 aperture) sits on the phone’s front side. Dolby Atmos audio is included in the Galaxy A6 Plus as well, while the phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, just like the Galaxy A6.

Both devices come in Black, Gold, Blue, and Lavender color variants, while they will become available in early May starting in some European, Asian and Latin American markets. The two devices will reach additional markets (South Korea, Africa, and China) soon after that, though the company still did not release any pricing info for the Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus.

UPDATE: Price points for the two phones have now been confirmed as well, at least for Europe, the Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus will cost €309 and €359 in Europe, respectively.
