With the Moto Z3 Play being set to launch early next month, the device has been found listed in the Geekbench database. As per the listing, the mid-range Android smartphone will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 636 which was previously believed to be powering the device, based on previous leaks. Motorola may launch a couple of variants of the handset sporting different processors intended for different markets. Besides the octa-core SoC, the newest addition to the Moto Z family is mentioned to include 4GB of RAM along with Android 8.1 Oreo. This set of internals helped the phone score 1,299 points and 4,851 points in the benchmarking tool’s single-core and multi-core tests respectively, both of which are in line with mobile products in the value-oriented category.

Last week, an internal document from the company leaked online, supposedly revealing most of the specifications of the mid-range smartphone. According to the leak, the phone will feature an 18:9 display, a first for the Moto Z line, with relatively thin surrounding bezels. It will use an AMOLED panel measuring six inches with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels. Unlike some of Motorola’s lower-end G6-series smartphones, the Z3 Play isn’t expected to feature a rear-placed fingerprint scanner. Instead, it will have its biometric reader placed on the side, an approach that was first adopted by Sony several years back.

This April, the Moto Z3 Play passed through FCC with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of flash memory, and a Snapdragon 636 processor. Being certified by the federal regulator, this particular model may end up launching in the U.S., while other international markets may get a variant with a Snapdragon 660 SoC mentioned by Geekbench. A rear-facing dual-camera setup will be a part of the package, and so will a 3,000mAh battery, as per previous reports. Going by Lenovo’s commitment to support Moto Mods for at least three Moto Z iterations, this year’s model is also expected to support the modules that have grown as an ecosystem over the years, offering a variety of modification options to consumers. The device is also expected to feature face unlock, navigation gestures, and Moto Voice. The company recently teased an official Moto Z3 Play announcement meant to take place in Brazil next Wednesday, June 6.
