Verizon has recently established Visible, a new network operator that offers unlimited data, calls, and text at a significantly cheaper price compared to the industry average. Visible only offers one plan, which costs $40 a month and includes unlimited calls, texts, and data. An important part of the user experience is the Visible app where customers sign up for the service and manage their accounts. Users who sign up for the service will have to provide the necessary personal information through the app and the network provider will then send them a SIM card within 24 hours. Moreover, the app also enables subscribers to view their payment history, chat with customer service personnel, and update their payment details. Users may choose to pay for their plans through the Visible app or its website via Paypal, Venmo, and credit cards.
Even though the mobile service provider offers unlimited data, it is important to note that the download speed that the company provides to its subscribers is limited to 5Mbps. In addition, the firm limits the resolution of video clips to SD quality (480p), and the data of Visible’s subscribers will be automatically deprioritized once Verizon’s LTE network in the area experiences congestion, no matter how much data they have already consumed during the current billing cycle. The network operator also does not offer roaming services and there is no monthly data allocation for mobile hotspots.
At this stage, Visible is only offering its plans to a select set of consumers as part of its Early Access program, and the only way that other users can subscribe to it is for an existing Visible customer to invite them to the service by providing them with an access code. These codes can be found on the homepage of the Visible app. Another limitation of the service is that it is currently available only to iPhone users, although the company already mentioned it’s working to add support for Android devices. The network operator also plans to offer devices to its subscribers in the near future, although at this point, the only option for interested consumers is to purchase their own smartphones separately.
