fuboTV has announced the start of its support for 4K HDR10. As this is only an initial level of support, it’s first becoming available as a beta feature. Resulting in limited availability for content, and limited device compatibility. On the content front, fuboTV is launching its 4K HDR10 support with the remaining World Cup 2018 matches. Although even here, support might not be afforded to all matches as fuboTV specifically makes reference to “main broadcasts” on FOX and FS1. At the device level, fuboTV has confirmed its 4K HDR10 support will be initially available on Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV devices. With the streaming service explaining “in the coming weeks” support will be expanding to include Roku and Apple TV devices.

In addition to these limitations set out by fuboTV, taking advantage of 4K HDR10 does rely on additional minimum requirements. For example, device owners will also need a 4K HDR-enabled television in the first place. This is also in addition to 4K HDR-enabled cables connecting the TV to the supported streaming device, and a suitable enough connecting to ensure a smooth and stable feed. On the last point, a minimum bandwidth speed of 30Mbps is recommended, according to fuboTV.

For those new to fuboTV, while this is another streaming solution for those looking for a monthly no-contract live TV option, fuboTV does look to differentiate itself by focusing on sports. While this does not necessarily mean it compromises on other genres, it does mean those who are most interesting in gaining access to as much sports coverage as possible will want to check out what fuboTV has to offer, including some additional features such as the ability to replay unrecorded games for up to three days after they have aired. Building on this point, and in spite of the limited availability at launch, fuboTV explains the newly-available 4K HDR10 support represents how the service has continued to lead the market when it comes to advancing the user experience. New subscribers are automatically eligible for a seven-day free trial while those who purchase a new Roku device by July 8 will see the trial period extended to one month.
