The Nokia 5.1 Plus official unveiling might be just around the corner, as a photo depicting a promotional poster for the smartphone’s purported launch event in China was recently shared by a Baidu user, hinting at a July 11 debut. To be precise, the promo refers to the device as the Nokia X5 but so far this moniker has been interchangeable with the Nokia 5.1 Plus nametag, and the device might carry different names depending on market regions. In any case, the same source also suggests that HMD Global intends on launching at least two more Nokia smartphones before the end of Q3 2018, though this bit of information wasn’t accompanied by leaked promo materials.

Specifically, the Baidu user behind the shared image indicates that the OEM is working on a Nokia handset powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 chipset, as well as a second model which will presumably rely on the Snapdragon 845 silicon. Reportedly, these devices might be scheduled for an official unveiling sometime before the end of Q3 2018. As far as the Nokia X5, a.k.a. Nokia 5.1 Plus is concerned, the promo poster is rather blurry but nonetheless, certain design features are still visible, namely a vertically-aligned camera housing centered on the back panel, and more importantly, a relatively wide display notch at the top of the front panel. Of course, this isn’t the first time the Nokia 5.1 Plus was associated with a display notch, and the device shown in the promotional material – blurry as it may be – seems to closely resemble a series of high-res renders which were leaked early last month.

The source also added that the Nokia 5.1 Plus / 5X will be released with two storage options, including a 32GB model which should launch in China for 799 Yuan ($120), as well as a 64GB variant priced at 999 Yuan ($150). As for other hardware specifications, previous leaks pertaining to the unit suggest that it will employ a chipset from MediaTek which could be paired with 3GB, 4GB, and/or 6GB of RAM. The notched display could have a resolution of 1520 by 720 pixels spread across a 5.86-inch panel, while the notch itself could accommodate two front-facing cameras including a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensor. Assuming that the purported July 11 unveiling in China will stick then more hardware and market availability details are bound to emerge soon.
