A recent FCC application published by the regulatory body on Monday reveals that HMD Global is developing a new Nokia-branded smartphone powered by Android 8.1 Oreo. The documents refer to the device by the model number TA-1120, while screenshots depicting parts of the GUI reveal the “Bravo” moniker hidden within the Settings application. The same screenshots also hint at a 16:9 image format, as well as 32GB of flash memory, though additional storage variants could also be planned.

The Nokia TA-1120 “Bravo” seems to support Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, GSM/WCDMA/LTE, as well as Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi 5GHz 802.11 a/n/ac connectivity options. More specifically, it supports GSM bands 850 and 1900, as well as LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 38, and 66, and finally, the device takes advantage of an on-board FM tuner. No other details pertaining to the internal hardware were revealed by the FFC application but it’s worth noting that this is the first instance wherein the model number TA-1120 emerges in association with an HMD Global smartphone, and the apparent lack of a display notch makes it unlikely for it to be the Nokia X5, i.e. 5.1 Plus, which has been linked with the model number TA-1109. On the other hand, recent rumors have explored the possibility that HMD Global intends on releasing at least two additional Nokia-branded smartphone models before the end of Q3 2018, and the TA-1120 is now a valid contender for filling one of these spots. Having said that, the rumors also claim that the two upcoming Nokia devices would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 845 chipsets, and both of these chipsets offer support for NFC connectivity while the TA-1120 is seemingly lacking this capability.

The OEM is expected to host a launch event in China tomorrow, July 11, when the Nokia X5 is expected to make an official appearance. It remains to be seen if the previous launch teasers were correct and whether the OEM has any plans to reveal more details about its handset portfolio for the remainder of 2018. Either way, the Nokia Bravo (TA-1120) is undoubtedly in the works and should see the light of day before the end of the year, with more unofficial details likely to emerge by then.
