The OPPO F9 is now official, and it sports a similar notch as the OPPO R17. The OPPO F9 actually resembles the OPPO R17 as far as the design is concerned, as it comes with a glass back, while its bezels are almost non-existent, even though that thin ‘chin’ is still noticeably, same as on the OPPO R17. The OPPO R17’s design and specs were confirmed by the company via an official listing even before the phone got officially announced, which will happen on August 23.
It seems like OPPO is going for a similar design over several of its lineups of devices, though the OPPO F9 is easily recognizable, as it sports horizontally-aligned cameras on the back, while the OPPO R17 comes with a vertically-aligned dual camera setup. OPPO’s logo is included on the back, while its power / lock key can be found on the left. The volume up and down buttons are located on the left side of the phone, while that triangle-shaped notch is included at the top of its display. That notch hides the phone’s front-facing camera, and an earpiece which is located above it, and it’s considerably smaller than the notch on the OPPO F7, which is the OPPO F9’s predecessor. In fact, the OnePlus 6T will almost certainly ship with such a notch as well, and it will be an improvement over what the OnePlus 6 had to offer in that regard, that’s for sure.
As far as specs go, the OPPO F9 is a mid-range smartphone. The device features a 6.3-inch fullHD+ display, while it is fueled by the Helio P60 64-bit octa-core processor by MediaTek. The device comes with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on it, along with OPPO’s ColorOS skin. 16 and 2-megapixel cameras are included on the back of this phone, while a single 25-megapixel camera sits on its front side. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of this package, while a 3,500mAh battery sits on the inside of this phone. That battery supports VOOC Flash Charge fast charging, and the device comes with two nano SIM card slots, plus a separate microSD card slot. The OPPO F9 got announced in Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple color variants, while the phone’s 4GB RAM model is priced at 76,90,000 Vietnamese Dong ($331), as this phone got announced in Vietnam initially. The phone will arrive in a number of other regions, though, soon.
