In Short: According to a new TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) listing, a new variant of the OPPO Find X may be on the way. This listing, that was revised on September 26, claims that OPPO is planning to release a variant of the OPPO Find X with 10GB of RAM. Now, if that ends up being true, the OPPO Find X will become the first-ever smartphone to ship with 10GB of RAM. The listing also claims that a 10GB RAM OPPO Find X variant will ship with 256GB of internal storage.
Background: The OPPO Find X was announced back in June this year, while it became available for purchase in July. We’ve already reviewed this smartphone, and it’s actually a really compelling device which offers almost no bezel. The OPPO Find X sports a very thin ‘chin below the display, so thin that it’s almost not noticeable. The phone’s display is curved, and the device itself is made out of metal and glass. The OPPO Find X actually sports a sliding mechanism, which will activate whenever you want to use the device’s cameras. So, whenever you want to take a picture, those cameras will move in the right position, and that also applies to situations when the device needs to scan your face, as a fingerprint scanner is not available on the phone. The OPPO Find X features a 6.42-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC. A 3,730mAh battery is a part of this package, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.1 skin.
Impact: The currently-available OPPO Find X comes with 8GB of RAM, which many would argue is more than enough when it comes to smartphones, but it seems like OPPO wants to push things a bit further. Releasing a 10GB RAM variant of the OPPO Find X may be a great marketing trick for the company, as that phone would become the first-ever smartphone with 10GB of RAM, even though you’d never use up all of that RAM. We’re still not sure when will this device launch, or will it launch at all, but we’ll see.
