In Short: OnePlus has just announced that the OnePlus 6T will be announced on October 30 in New York. The launch event will begin at 11AM EDT / 8AM PST, and this announcement comes from the company’s very own website. That very same website also offers you a chance to purchase tickets for the event in New York, while it also confirms that the event will be live streamed. The phone was expected to arrive on October 17, as that date was mentioned in a number of rumors and leaks thus far, but it seems like the company has other plans or its upcoming flagship.

Background: OnePlus had announced yesterday via its official Twitter account that a big, OnePlus 6T-related announcement is coming in 24 hours, and this is it, as expected. The OnePlus 6T’s release date surfaced on Amazon India earlier today, claiming that the phone will go on sale on October 30, and it seems like that listing was spot on. That also means that the OnePlus 6T will become available on the same day it ends up being launched, it seems. OnePlus will bundle in a free pair of earbuds along with the OnePlus 6T for early birds, according to today’s report, and it remains to be seen if the same courtesy will be provided in other markets as well.

Impact: The OnePlus 6T will not be a huge revamp of the OnePlus 6, but it will sport a considerably smaller notch, and an in-display fingerprint scanner, instead of a rear-facing capacitive one that graces the back side of the OnePlus 6. The two phones will sport a very similar design, the OnePlus 6T will also retain two cameras on the back, though it’s possible OnePlus will utilize different sensors compared to the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6T will not sport a headphone jack, unlike the OnePlus 6, though the two phones will share the same processor, and quite possibly RAM setups as well. The OnePlus 6T will arrive with a slightly larger display, and it will sport a somewhat larger battery as well.
