Considering how many of you are traveling to see your family for Thanksgiving, it is possible that some of you will have car issues along the way. Well, there are a number of roadside assistance applications (seven of them, to be exact)that can help you out with that, though it all depends on your car model, and whether you have a subscription in some cases. We did our best to find the very best roadside assistance applications and included them in this article, but please keep in mind that car brand-specific apps are not included here, and also, many consumers gave negative reviews to some of these apps due to their car selections, so a ton of those reviews do not reflect the quality of those apps. That being said, these apps are not listed in a specific order, so the first one is not necessarily the best one. Having that in mind, let’s get started, shall we.
AAA Mobile
AAA Mobile is quite probably the best-known road assistance app out there. First and foremost, you must be a current AAA member in order to use this app, and if you are, you can get discounts at over 164,000 locations all over the US. You can book your hotel or rental car via this application, while this app also includes more than 59,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated hotels and restaurants. If your car broke down, and you need roadside service, well, that is included here as well, of course.
Roadside2Go
Roadside2Go is a National Motor Club (NMC) application, which you can use if you’re a member of the NMC: You can request roadside assistance via this app with ease, via a couple of steps. This is a 24/7 service, which goes for pretty much all other such services. You can give detailed instructions for the service you need from the app, and even though the design of the app doesn’t exactly follow Material Design guidelines, the app is really easy to use, and everything is easily accessible.
OnStar RemoteLink
OnStar Remote Link app is yet another really useful roadside assistance app, though as with any other app, do keep in mind that OnStar does not support all vehicles. Via this app, if your car is supported, you can remotely start and stop your vehicle, you can also lock and unlock it if you need to. You can also see your fuel level, oil life, tire pressure, and much more. This app needs your car to be manufactured in 2015 or newer, and it needs to be supported by OnStar in order for these features to work.
HONK
HONK is actually a service which does not require you to be a member, you can pay after you order the service. Via this app, which offers a rather modern design, you can order a tow service, gas, new battery, get HONK to change a tire on your car… and you can even ask for help if you’re locked out of your car as well. The app will show you the price, including tax and tip, which you’ll need to pay before you order any type of service. Some users are reporting issues with the app, reporting bugs and what not, while others are perfectly happy with it, but it’s worth a try.
IMC
IMC Roadside Assistance application is one of the best-rated apps in the Play Store, but it has only seven ratings thus far. This is an app for customers of International Motoring Club, so if you’re not a member, this app will be completely useless to you. The app combines black background with white letters, and the UI looks rather interesting, even though it’s not exactly made using Google’s Material Design guidelines. This app weighs 23MB, and it hasn’t been around for long, but it seems like those people who tried it actually like it quite a bit.
Verizon Roadside Assistance
If you’re a Verizon customer, well, Verizon has its own Roadside Assistance app and service. You can request assistance for a mechanical issue, dead battery, flat tire, if you’re out of fuel, if you got locked out of your car, and much more. This app will use GPS in order to pinpoint your location, while the design of the app is very clean, and it sports Verizon’s colors, red and white. As with most other roadside assistance apps, however, it seems like users are having quite a few problems here, so keep that in mind.
Blink Roadside
Blink Roadside is not exactly an extremely popular roadside assistance app, but it does look quite nice, and it offers a lot. Blink is a nationwide roadside assistance network, as many of you probably already know, and you don’t need a membership in order to use Blink’s service or app. If you’re in need of towing, help with a flat tire, need to jump-start your car, or you ran out of fuel, Blink can help, and that’s not all, these are only some situations in which it can be useful. This app will show you the price once you select the service you need, and it pinpoints your location.
