Alcatel has announced three new smartphones in its 1 and 3 lineup, as well as a new tablet, at Mobile World Congress. Adding to its low-end and mid-range portfolio of devices.
Alcatel 1S
First up, there’s the Alcatel 1S. This is the lowest-end of the bunch, coming in with a 5.5-inch HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display. It sports an octa-core processor, with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. Alcatel has kept a micro SD card slot on the 1S, so users can expand that storage. On the backside, there is a 13-megapixel main sensor and then a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. All powered by a 3060mAh capacity battery.
With the Alcatel 1S, TCL has outfitted it with a brushed aluminum backside and 2.5D curved glass on the front. Making the Alcatel 1S look pretty modern, even though it is still a pretty inexpensive smartphone. The backside is slightly curved, giving the user a comfortable way to hold onto the phone without it slipping out of your hands.
Alcatel 3
Then there is the Alcatel 3, a slight step-up from the Alcatel 1S. This sports a slightly larger 5.9-inch 19.5:9 HD+ resolution display. This one is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, which is an octa-core processor. That is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. TCL says that there is around 56GB of storage available to the end-user. There is still a micro SD card slot available though. As far as the cameras go, there is a 13-megapixel main sensor, with a 5-megapixel depth sensor on the back, and a 8-megapixel front-facing sensor. This is all powered by a 3500mAh capacity battery.
The Alcatel 3 does have a few other unique features with its camera. TCL has included AI Imaging Scene Detection, which is able to detect up to 21 different scenes and adjust the settings accordingly. There’s also the Face Key that will scan your face to unlock your phone. Finally, TCL has included AR Emojis that can make the Alcatel 3 a bit more fun.
Alcatel 3L
The Alcatel 3L comes with a “Super Full View Display”. That’s a 5.9-inch HD+ display, with a pretty small notch – large enough for the camera, and that’s about it. TCL has achieved 88-percent screen-to-body ratio with the Alcatel 3L.
This smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 chipset, that is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. And it also has the micro SD card slot for expanding storage, should you need some more space. The camera setup is the same as the Alcatel 3, with a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor on the backside, and a 8-megapixel front-facing sensor. That is all powered by a 3500mAh capacity battery.
Alcatel 3T 10
Finally, we have the Alcatel 3T 10, which is a budget tablet from TCL. As the name indicates, it has a 10-inch display with a 1280×800 resolution. Alcatel doesn’t mention what processor is inside, but we do know that it has a 4080mAh capacity battery, as well as 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on-board. Like the smartphones announced today, there is also a micro SD card slot available.
What’s unique about the Alcatel 3T 10, however, is the fact that it does feature an optional Audio Station accessory. You can dock the tablet to this audio station and get deeper bass, and it will play for around seven hours on a charge.
Pricing & Availability
The Alcatel 1S is going to be available in Europe starting in the second quarter for €109. It will be available in Black, Blue, Rose and Gold. The Alcatel 3 will be available in Europe starting in the second quarter with the 3GB/32GB model going for €159 and the 4GB/64GB going for €189. While the Alcatel 3L will be more widely available, only Europe pricing has been announced. Which is €139, starting in the second quarter. Finally, the Alcatel 3T 10 will be available for €179, and the Audio Station Bundle will be €229, available later this year.
