Samsung has now started pushing out the latest Good Lock update, which can now be downloaded via the Galaxy Store.
The update will bring Android 9 Pie and One UI compatibility to the app, as well as some other changes. When the Android 9 Pie beta was released last year for the Samsung Galaxy S9, it made the Good Lock app partly non-functional as some of its plugins and apps stopped working. Samsung had assured users at that time that the problem will be taken care of and the system customization tool will be fully compatible with Android 9 Pie and now Samsung has delivered on that promise. Just in time for the Galaxy S10 launch tomorrow, which is coming with Android Pie installed. So updating Good Lock was kinda needed for that launch to be successful.
If you cannot wait to try the new version, you can head right to the Galaxy Store and download Good Lock 2019. from the Galaxy Store. However, the app is officially available only in South Korea, the U.S., the UK, Canada, Australia, and Singapore. So, if you do not find the app on the store, it probably means your country isn’t supported.
It is also worth mentioning that Good Lock 2019 won’t work with the recently released Galaxy S10. Samsung will hopefully release an update for its latest phones soon. However, if you own the Galaxy Note 9 or an older Samsung flagship running Android 9 Pie, you can go ahead and download the app. If you already have the app on your phone, you can also upgrade to the latest version from within it if your market is supported or you can download the APKs.
If everything said in this article up until now was complete jargon for you, Good Lock is basically an app that allows owners of Samsung smartphones to heavily customize their phones. That includes using gestures, changing the recents screen, the lock screen and so much more. It makes OneUI a whole lot more customizable than you might think. The best part is that no prior knowledge about rooting is required, just download the app and you are good to go. So, for instance, if someone doesn’t like the default OneUI skin, they can just change it using Good Lock, without having to download messy third-party launchers.
That is not to say that Good Lock overhauls the way your phone looks completely. It just makes the user interface a little more flexible and let users customize the lock screen and quick settings. The new version also brings backs some of the Multi Window features which were removed by Samsung after the Pie update because of some Google policies. The core features such as Task Changer, Quickstar, and Edge Lighting have also been improved. However, the overall functionality of the tool hasn’t changed a lot with the latest update, as users of God Lock 2018 would notice. The update isn’t available in all supported regions right now so you might have to wait a bit before it arrives in your market.
