OPPO’s Snapdragon 855-based flagship will become official next month, the company’s Vice President, has confirmed. The exact date of its announcement is not yet known, but the company’s VP said that it is arriving in April. He published the news on Weibo (Chinese social network) a while back, but it did not hit the news until now.

If you take a look at the image OPPO’s VP shared, you will notice that there three camera cutouts on the back, and the bottom one has an interesting shape. The first two cutouts are circular, while the bottom one is squarish, and that bottom cutout is actually there for the company’s periscope-style camera.

OPPO has announced its new camera technology with 10x optical zoom at this year’s Mobile World Congress, and that technology will make its way to the market via the company’s upcoming flagship.

Interestingly enough, it seems like the Huawei P30 Pro will offer similar tech, as one of the camera lenses on the back of that phone will have the same shape as the one on OPPO’s upcoming flagship, not to mention that the company’s exec also hinted that such camera tech will make its way to the P30 series.

It was previously confirmed that OPPO’s flagship will include a 4,065mAh battery, though we still do not know anything about fast charging. OPPO does have its own proprietary fast charging technology called “VOOC”, so that tech will almost certainly make its way to this handset.

The name of this phone is still unknown, though, but it will be a successor to the OPPO Find X flagship which was announced last year. OPPO may end up calling its the OPPO Find X 2019, or something of the sort, but that’s not as likely. It is possible that the phone will sport a brand new name, and the OPPO Find Z naming has been mentioned via rumors, so that’s also a possibility.

The device will have a large display, but specifics regarding that display, or the rest of the phone’s specifications still did not surface. You can expect to see a display larger than 6.4 inches, while the phone will include at least 6GB of RAM on the inside, though it’s quite possible that more than one variant of the device will be announced.

Android 9 Pie is expected to come pre-installed on this device, along with OPPO’s Color OS Android overlay. The phone will probably be made out of metal and glass, and it remains to be seen if it will sport a display notch / hole, or will OPPO perhaps utilize a pop-up camera or a camera sliding mechanism in order to avoid including a display notch / hole.

Last year the company opted for a sliding camera mechanism, so that’s a possibility once again, but we’ll see what the company will opt for. OPPO will probably announce the exact launch date of this phone soon, in a couple of weeks probably, depending on when in April does the company plan to introduce it.
