OPPO is expected to announce its Reno flagship smartphone on April 10, though we’re expecting to see more than one phone. In addition to the flagship model, OPPO is also planning to announce a mid-range variant of the device, fueled by the Snapdragon 710 SoC, and if you’re at all interested in this announcement, a well-known tipster has just released more info about the device, about the flagship model.
Ishan Agarwal has shared this information on Twitter, and he says that the most powerful OPPO Reno variant will probably be called the “Reno 10X Zoom”. That seems to be a rather strange name for a smartphone, but the device is expected to offer 10x hybrid optical zoom thanks to its periscope camera system that OPPO showcased during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. That camera feature will be one of the main selling points of this phone, so it’s not surprising OPPO wants to emphasize that.
The source also says that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor by Qualcomm, while it will also pack in 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The device will include an OLED display, while its screen-to-body ratio will be 93.1-percent, that is actually official info, as OPPO did reveal the phone’s screen-to-body ratio not long ago
Mr. Agarwal claims that the phone will ship with OPPO’s ColorOS 6.0 software out of the box, which means that Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on the device. The phone will measure 162 x 77.2 x 9.3mm, while it will weigh 215 grams.
The source also shared an image of the phone in his tweet, but that is not the first time we’re seeing this device. This image only shows part of the device, but official renders of the OPPO Reno had surfaced quite recently, even though those images showed the phone’s mid-range variant, which is something you’ll notice if you take a look at its rear cameras. The mid-range OPPO Reno handset will include two cameras on the back, while the flagship one will ship with three, the bottom one will be the periscope camera it seems.
The device will also include some additional camera-related sensors on the back, it seems, while its bezels will be extremely thin. A pop-up camera system will be a part of the offering as well, and if leaks are to be believed, we’re looking at a triangle-shaped front-facing camera system, first of its kind. The phone will be made out of metal, and its back side will be slightly curved, while the phone will arrive in a number of color variants.
At this point, rumors are claiming that we’ll see two variants of the phone announced, one mid-range and one high-end, but it is possible that the company will announce more variants come April 10, we’ll just have to wait and see what will happen. One thing is for sure, though, this will become the most powerful smartphone that OPPO has ever announced, and based on the info that we have at the moment, the flagship model will be more than compelling.
