If you own Samsung’s latest flagship tablet, and you purchase it over at T-Mobile, you’ll be glad to know that Android 9 Pie has started rolling out to the device. The Galaxy Tab S4 is now receiving the update, according to a report from TmoNews.
The source received this info via one of its readers, and it seems like the Galaxy Tab S4 is getting Android 9 Pie via software version T837TUVU1BSD4. Considering that this is a rather large update, that brings Samsung’s One UI Android overlay to the table, in addition to Android 9 Pie, the update weighs 1513.26MB.
If you own the Galaxy Tab S4 that was purchased at T-Mobile, you can go into settings and manually check if the update is available to you. As it goes with pretty much every OS update, this one is also gradual, so not every owner of the device will get it at the same time. Your update may arrive today, and it may arrive in a couple of days, or a week, just be patient. You can continue manually checking, though the Galaxy Tab S4 will let you know when the update is available even if you don’t do that, presuming that option is not disabled.
Samsung’s brand new One UI interface is already a part of quite a few smartphones by the company, including the Galaxy S10 series which ships with Android 9 Pie and One UI, and other phones that received this update, like the Galaxy S9, and Note8, for example.
Samsung’s One UI actually brings a more useful user interface to the table, as it makes elements easier to reach, at least in the launcher itself and Samsung’s applications. This makes more sense for phones, than it does for tablets, but there you have it. In addition to that, this update also brings a proper Night Mode to the Galaxy Tab S4, support for Unicode 11.0 emojis with the Samsung Keyboard, support for HEIF images, and so much more.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 was actually announced back in August last year, and it originally shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo and Samsung’s Experience UX. The device features a 10.5-inch 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display, while it includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 256GB of storage. A 6GB RAM variant is also available, but only in South Korea.
The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor, while a 7,300mAh battery is also a part of the package, and it supports 18W fast charging, but no wireless charging. This tablet actually comes with an iris scanner, and its speakers are tuned by AKG/HARMAN, not to mention that it supports Dolby Atmos sound. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of the package, while the device ships with four speakers.
A 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this tablet, while an 8-megapixel unit is available on its front side. The device was actually announced in both WiFi only and WiFi + 4G LTE variants, while Bluetooth 5.0 is also available on the device.
